Meet the Filmmakers 2025

ANCHORED Katerina Mavrogeorgi

KATERINA MAVROGEORGI (ANCHORED, Director / Co-Writer) was born in Athens. She studied Dramatic Art, Media & Culture. She writes, acts and directs both for the cinema and for the theater in Greece. In 2022 she wrote and directed the short film CROSSING in collaboration with Aineias Tsamatis. She received the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Artwork Award and Fellowship. As a theater creator, she is currently staging her own plays. She won the Best Director Award 2024 for her production JANE, written and directed by her, by the Greek Critics Association of Theater and the Elefteria Sapountzi Award for Outstanding Director in 2023.

RINIO DRAGASAKI (SUMMER SPELL, Director / Writer) is a film director and screenwriter based in Athens, Greece. She studied film direction in Athens and documentary filmmaking in Barcelona. Her films, both narrative and documentary, have been screened at major international festivals such as Berlinale, Fantastic Fest, Sitges, Clermont-Ferrand, and São Paulo. Her debut feature COSMIC CANDY premiered at Fantastic Fest and won Best Debut Director at the Thessaloniki Film Festival and the Hellenic Film Academy Awards. Previous short films, including SCHOOLYARD and DAD, LENIN AND FREDDY also received international acclaim. She is currently developing her second feature, SUMMER SPELL.

THE CASE OF M.K Artemis Anastasiadou

ARTEMIS ANASTASIADOU (THE CASE OF M.K., Director / Co-Writer) is a screenwriter & director from Greece. Her directorial work has been screened at Berlinale, SXSW, BFI London, POFF shorts, among others. Her films emphasize female narratives and are characterized by her use of improvisation, work with non-actors, and the integration of documentary research into her writing and directing process. She studied Film Directing, Screenwriting and Production at the University of Texas at Austin, video production at the European Film College and Drama and Theater studies at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She is a member of the Hellenic Film Academy and Women in Film & TV.GR (WIFT). Currently, she works as an Assistant Professor of Cinema Studies and Program Coordinator at the American College of Greece. Her teaching focuses on directing, screenwriting and film production.

EMMA DOXIADI (THE DISAPPEARANCE, Director / Writer / Producer) is a Greek and Australian writer, director, and producer whose work has screened at Berlinale, SXSW, Cannes, New York Film Festival, Encounters, Flickers Rhode Island, Vimeo Staff Picks and more. She is also an environmental advocate in film, founding Everybodies and co-founding filmsos, Greece’s first green film initiative. Emma studied filmmaking at the NYU Tisch Graduate Film Program.

GIORGOS ATHANASIOU (THE SON, Director / Co-Writer) studied at Kingston University Fine Arts specializing in Filmmaking in 2014. He currently works as a director, photographer and editor in Athens, Greece. He has directed the short films NOZIA and FOREVER NEVER, and his first feature-length fiction film, BLOSSOMS TO BLOSSOMS, premiered at the Thessaloniki Film Festival in 2022. It also appeared at the Greek Festival in Berlin and the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival in 2023. The film received distribution and was screened in Greek cinemas throughout the summer of 2023 for 4 weeks. The film is now being distributed by Cinobo. He is currently in post production of his 2025 feature film THE ANYTHING starring musicians of the underground music scene of Athens, and is in development of his feature film THE SON, written by Giorgos Zafeiropoulos. The project is set to participate at Discovery Days, at Los Angeles Greek Film Festival 2025.

GIORGOS ZAFEIROPOULOS (THE SON, Co-Writer) is a Greek-Scottish writer working across film, television, and theatre. His limited series projects have been selected to the Series Mania forum two years in a row, his latest ANTIPAROS heading into development with Tanweer Productions. He has also written award-winning short films and music videos. His upcoming short LAST DAY OF THE UNIVERSE (co-directed with Alexandros Papathanasopoulos) was chosen for the Euroconnection 2024 co-production platform at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.

WAKRA Santiago Paladines

SANTIAGO PALADINES (WAKRA, Director / Writer / Producer) is an award-winning Ecuadorian director, writer, and producer with an MFA from the American Film Institute. His work has been recognized by the DGA, the Hispanic Heritage Awards, and the California Senate. He wrote, directed, and composedLOS WANABIS, Ecuador’s most-watched film of 2023, winner of the Ecuadorian Academy Award for Best Script and the country’s first Platino-nominated comedy. He also showran PARECE QUE FUE AYER for Ecuavisa and directed THE FARE, featured at over 20 international festivals. Santiago is currently completing SEEKERS, a documentary series filmed on four continents featuring Riley Keough and Edgar Ramirez.
