The Department of Television, Film, and Media Studies at Cal State LA is very excited to partner with the LA Greek Film Festival for the first time, allowing our film and journalism students opportunities to intern for a world-class film festival. This experience will build on our Cal State LA festival class sequence, a unique one, where students are taught how to program and execute their three-day, campus-based Golden Eagle Film Festival. Working at the LA Greek Film Festival alongside industry professionals and participating in the festival’s various events will take the students’ education to the next level. The Department of Television, Film, and Media Studies is committed to equipping the next generation of diverse filmmakers and journalists with the opportunities and experiences necessary for career success. We thank LAGFF for providing this impactful opportunity and experience for our students.
DeAndre Duncan is a senior at Cal State LA with a passion for writing. He started with emotionally charged poetry before finding his stride in scriptwriting. He’s inspired by his favorite movies; Singing in the Rain, Evil Dead, and The Blair Witch Project. Fresh off the release of his directorial debut, Extended Stay, he plans to continue making short films while writing feature scripts.
Maya Isabel Luis: Hiya I’m Maya! I’m a Mexican-Filipino animator, writer, and storyteller! I am a senior animation student at CalStateLA and Gravitas Animation Society President. Growing up I was starved of representation, and since then I have made it my goal to share biracial stories more with the world. When I’m not drawing, you can find me in museums, movie theaters, or swimming in LA’s beaches!
My name is Aubrey Miranda and I’ll be starting the Fall 2025 Semester as a Senior Animation student at CalStateLA. At a young age I was put in front of a television set where I was flooded with cartoons, movies and animation. Since then I’ve felt a great desire to be apart of the industry that makes such amazing visuals and stories. When I need a breather, I like to hang out in sunny parks, catch a movie with my boyfriend, grab an early morning coffee for a nice walk or sing karaoke at my local bar.
Jose Zamudio: I’m a just recently graduated Animation Major focusing in 3D animation and Mixed Media animation. My focus is to be able to animate for a big studio as well as work on my own projects for friends, family, and all to enjoy!
