Tasos Gerakinis, producer, director and screenwriter, graduated from the Polytechnic University as a surveyor engineer (1994). He began his career in cinema working in the production of short and feature films. In 2002, written, directed and produced by himself, he created the short film THE CRISIS and in 2005 the short film OUT OF SCHEDULE. This was followed by the creation of the short film CAN ANYONE HEAR ME? (2007), in co-production with ERT (Microfilm), also written and directed by him (based on the short story of the same name by Ersi Sotiropoulou), winning an award from the Greek Film Center and an honorary distinction from the Ministry of Culture. In 2019, he completed his first feature film, A SIMPLE MAN, produced by Bad Crowd and co-produced by the Greek Film Center, ERT, Faliro House, Arctos SA and Arizona Prod, which received positive reviews, was presented at festivals around the world and was screened exclusively at ASTY Cinema, distributed by Bad Crowd (NOV 2021). In 2022, he was the producer on the short film FAULT as part of the Greek Film Council’s Covid 19 program, directed by Katerina Papanastasatou, which premiered at the 44th International Film Festival of Drama. This year (2025), he completed his second feature film, THE ROOSTER, produced by the recently founded company DECA PRODUCTIONS. He is a member of the Greek Directors Guild.
