A River Called Vakirtzis

A tribute to a master creative in the “art of the seven days”

From the façades of the capital’s main cinemas in the 1950s and 1960s, inviting passer-by into the dark theaters, George Vakirtzis’s gigantic, original and bold visual creations today adorn public and private collections and are internationally acclaimed.

Director, Producer and Writer, cofounder of PATH Ltd., an independent production company based in Athens, Greece. Over the last 35 years he has worked extensively in film, television and commercial production in Greece and the USA for national and multinational clients and has directed numerous documentaries, shorts, fiction for episodic TV, as well as commercials, corporate, educational and social awareness videos.

A graduate of the American Film Institute in Hollywood (AFI Center for Advanced Film & Television Studies), he holds an MFA in Film Directing from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California and an MBA from Athens Laboratory of Business Administration (ALBA).

His documentary directorial credits include:
IMEROLOGIA ERGASIAS (LABOR LOG), a 13-episode historical documentary series on the evolution of labor in the modern Greek State produced for ERT, the National Greek Broadcaster.

WE ARE ALL CITIZENS, a series of documentaries on the action of EEA Grants’ funded NGOs in Greece during the years of economic crisis produced for the Bodossaki Foundation.

SPETSES ’21 – Crossroads of History, feature length documentary. Fragments of history in the narrative of modern Spetsiotes.
