LOS ANGELES GREEK FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES 2013 DATES

The Los Angeles Greek Film Festival announced its new dates for the 7th annual 2013 event: June 6-9, 2013.

“We were so pleased with this past year’s results.  We broke records with a 10% increase in ticket sales and we doubled our Gold Pass sales. We have already started developing plans for 2013 and we are searching for new films to expand our film program and events,” commented LAGFF Co-Founder and Artistic Director, Ersi Danou. “Our staff has been with us since our debut, and we look forward to having another great year with them. At our first annual Volunteer Awards Party, which took place last month, we confirmed that our dedicated volunteers will also be a part of the 2013 event. We are also proud to announce that film festival executive, Craig Prater, will be returning to assist with our growth and development,” continued Danou.

Highlights last year included the world premiere screening and opening night film A GREEN STORY, directed by Nika Agiashvili, which recounted the life story of Earth Friendly Products CEO Van Vlahakis.  The coveted Orpheus Awards for 2012 included THE PALACE (Best Short Film); APARTMENT IN ATHENS (Best Feature); WASTED YOUTH (Special Jury Award); SAYOME (Best Documentary); and a special Honorary Orpheus Award, which was presented to Greek Consul General Elisabeth Fotiadou.  In addition to an impressive 2012 film line-up, a special tribute to Theo Angelopoulos was presented by Dr. Katerina Zachaira,  as well as film industry panels and seminars conducted by Michael Economou and LAGFF Co-Founder Angeliki Giannakopoulos.

Much of the 2012 success was attributed to the support of LAGFF sponsors: Earth Friendly Products (www.ecos.com); Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation—ERT S.A. (www.ert.gr/ertae/en/etaireia/etaireia.asp); Pabst Brewing Company / The Metropoulos Family; Ben & Jerry’s; G.P. Kolovos & Associates; Hollywood Foreign Press Association; West Coast Investors; NotesFromHollywood.com; HBO; Astro Burger, Greek Film Centre, Delphi Greek Restaurant, with additional special support from European Language Movies in America (ELMA).
Updated information about the 2013 film festival and events will be continuously added to the LAGFF website (www.lagff.org).
