Queen Of The Deuce

Chelly Wilson was a Jewish grandma and proud owner of porn theaters in the 1970s NYC. Through audio recordings, Chelly recounts her pre-war escape from Greece up, her unlikely motherhood, and her rise to wealth as a shrewd businesswoman on “The Deuce,” aka New York’s infamous 42nd Street.

About the director

Director Valerie Kontakos

A native New Yorker, Valerie Kontakos graduated from New York University, worked as a sound editor, and has served as deputy director of the Hellenic Foundation in NYC, where she started the NYC Greek Film Festival. For over a decade, she has been on the board of directors of the Greek Cinematheque. She has directed three previous features: A Quality of Light, Who’s on First?, and Mana.
