Requiem in Salt

After the loss of his sister, Yamamoto explores the ephemerality of life by creating intricate salt installations in memory of his lost loved ones.  A film about death, salt and art.

Sylvia Nicolaides and Nicolas Iordanou are a filmmaking duo based in Cyprus. Their films have been screened ininternational film festivals like Raindance, In The Palace, PÖFF Shorts, Tampere, ThessalonikiFilm Festival, among others. In 2022, they received research fellowships from the Japan Foundation and the Institute of Contemporary Arts of Kyoto for their documentary titled Requiem in Salt (2024) about the Japanese artist Motoi Yamamoto.
