LMU GREEK CINEMA WEEK
IN COLLABORATION WITH LAGFF
For the second consecutive year, LAGFF will support and collaborate with the Loyola Marymount University Department of Classics and Archaeology in the LMU Greek Cinema Week, which will take place from March 11 to 18, 2025.
LMU Professor of Classics Katerina Zacharia has been instrumental in instituting the invaluable Community Partnership with the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival and developing a vibrant LMU-LAGFF internship program for over a decade as LAGFF Director of Education (2015-present).
The LMU Greek Cinema Week is a scholarly inquiry into Greek Cinema, emphasizing contemporary issues and the discipline of Classics. Prof. Zacharia selects the topic and curates the program in collaboration with LAGFF and will conduct all the post-screening discussions, which will be recorded by LMU staff/interns. LAGFF provides the library of current and older films that form the pool of the
program’s selection. The film screenings are supported by students in Prof. Zacharia’s spring 2025 course on Representations of Greece: Ancient and Modern.
The topic for the 2025 LMU Greek Cinema Week is “Homage to Xenios Zeus”
