Carol Contes

Carol Contes is a transactional entertainment lawyer who has worked within the established Hollywood infrastructure as in-house business affairs and legal counsel for many years (networks, studios, large production companies, talent agencies, a performers’ union and a Silicon Valley game publisher), and now, as a lawyer in private practice. Contes Law Corporation specializes in negotiating agreements for the development, production and distribution of independent films, television shows and internet productions. Carol’s clientele includes the producers and distributors of animated films, streaming television projects, motion pictures and digital media productions distributed throughout the world (www.conteslawcorp.com). Carol recently was a Co-Producer of “The Bay of Silence,”, an independent feature film produced in Europe (UK/Italy/Belgium). She is also ‘of counsel’ to the Guzman Law Group in Manhattan Beach where she heads the entertainment group, representing celebrity estates in the continuing exploitation of highly-valued intellectual property, including the estate of “Rent” and “Tick, Tick…Boom” playwright Jonathan Larson (www.guzmanlg.com).

Ms. Contes received her Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctorate from the University of Arizona. She has taught as an adjunct professor at the Academy of Arts University in San Francisco and hosts seminars on entertainment and intellectual property for California Lawyers for the Arts.
